About ABA Therapy

What is ABA therapy?

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is an evidence-based therapy that uses positive reinforcement and structured teaching to help children with autism develop communication, social, academic, and daily living skills. It is widely recognized as the gold standard in autism treatment and is endorsed by major medical organizations.

Is ABA therapy right for my child?

ABA therapy can benefit children with autism spectrum disorder and other developmental needs. During a free consultation, our team reviews your child’s strengths, challenges, and goals to determine whether ABA is a good fit. Every child is unique, and we tailor our recommendations to your family’s specific situation.

At what age should my child start ABA therapy?

Early intervention often leads to the strongest outcomes, and many families begin between ages 2 and 5. That said, ABA therapy can help children and teens of many ages. We create age-appropriate goals for each learner, whether they are just starting therapy or continuing support into school years.

How long does ABA therapy typically last?

The length of therapy depends on your child’s needs, goals, and progress. Some children receive intensive services for several months, while others continue with a reduced schedule over a longer period. We regularly review progress with families and adjust the treatment plan so therapy remains effective and appropriate.

Our Services

Where do you provide ABA therapy?

Sunny Day’s Therapy provides ABA services in your child’s natural environments — including the family home, school, and daycare or childcare settings. Serving children where they live, learn, and play helps skills generalize more effectively into everyday life.

What areas do you serve?

We serve Pasadena, Texas and surrounding communities within approximately 20 miles, including South Houston and Deer Park. If you are unsure whether your location is within our service area, contact us and we will gladly confirm availability.

What does a typical therapy session look like?

Sessions are individualized and play-based whenever possible. A trained therapist works one-on-one with your child on goals from their treatment plan — such as communication, social skills, or daily living routines — while collecting data to track progress. Parent involvement and coaching are also an important part of our approach.

Do you offer telehealth options?

Yes. We offer telehealth sessions that connect families with clinicians remotely. Telehealth can be a helpful option for parent training, consultations, and flexible support between in-person visits, depending on your child’s needs and insurance coverage.

Getting Started

How do I enroll my child?

Start by scheduling a free consultation through our Contact page or by calling us. We will discuss your child’s needs, verify insurance benefits, and outline next steps. If ABA is a good fit, we schedule an assessment with a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and build an individualized treatment plan.

What happens during the initial assessment?

A BCBA conducts a comprehensive evaluation to understand your child’s strengths, challenges, and learning style. This may include observations, caregiver interviews, and standardized assessments. From there, we develop clear, measurable goals and a personalized therapy plan aligned with your family’s priorities.

How involved will I be as a parent?

Family involvement is central to our approach. We provide parent and caregiver training so strategies used in therapy can be reinforced at home. You will receive regular progress updates, and we welcome open communication throughout your child’s care.

Insurance & Cost

Do you accept insurance?

Yes. We accept most major insurance plans, including Texas Medicaid (STAR/STAR Kids), BlueCross BlueShield, Cigna, Aetna, United Healthcare, Humana, Optum, and more. We also offer a self-pay option. Our team verifies benefits before your first appointment so you know what to expect.

How do I verify my insurance coverage?

You can request insurance verification through our Contact page or by calling our office. Share your insurance details, and our team will check ABA therapy benefits, any authorization requirements, and estimated out-of-pocket costs before services begin.

Is a diagnosis required to start services?

Most insurance plans require an autism diagnosis or related documentation to authorize ABA therapy. If you are unsure about your child’s diagnosis or paperwork, contact us — we can help guide you through the process and explain what is typically needed for coverage.
